Biography - Nancy Sorensen
Nancy was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1958. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.Ed in 1980 and taught in the school system for 10 years before retiring to be a full time mom. Nancy lives, paints and shows in Edmonton and the Columbia Valley of British Columbia. She specializes in commissions of “Favorite Places” for her clients.
Using personal photographs or natures inspiration, Nancy begins each painting with a thin layer of oil or acrylic. Using large bristle brushes, palette knives, cloth and even her hands, several more layers are applied to build depth and richness to the painting to achieve the desired result.
Nancy has studied with internationally recognized artists Stephen Quiller, Robert Genn, Gene Prokop, Brian Atyeo, Robert Johnson, Sherrie McGraw and Greg Kreutz.
